I Stopped Using Third Party Junk for a Reason

Posted on: July 31, 2011

Sims 3 is a very complex game. Nothing is properly meshed and the complexity of Sims 3 makes it unstable as it is. I wonder if those poor things get weird stares and pointed at. When they become children, I feel like they’re a target of bullying.

I actually find Sims that look “realistic” or “human” really really creepy. I am fine with the way EA intended my Sims to look. I only allow myself hair makeup and properly meshed clothes. That’s it. However, I can’t go to the exchange unless the Sim has NO cc on him/her. Thank god the girl dressed doll isn’t around.

I managed to recreate Sims 2 Sims WITHOUT third party junk, thanks to the Store Bought EA hair and the EP items. I’m thinking of recreating the Broke family and the Pleasant family. You can get Brandi Broke’s hair in Generations. Mary Sue Pleasant does resemble Tori Kimura (couldn’t stand either Sim) and Daniel looks a bit like Connor Frio. I’m going to the Swap Shop to try to get Brandi Broke’s pattern. I’m recreating Pleasantview after Don Lothario changed the future very soon. He will be married to Cassandra Goth, Alexander will be a male Jamie Jolina and Bella was never abducted by Aliens.

I’m with you about the “real” Sims looking creepy. The long, glorious hair is just wrong. I don’t know anyone in real life who has hair like that. I like my Sims the way EA designed them.

To be honest, I don’t mind SOME stuff. Some stuff is fine, as long as it’s not overly shiny. I hate the creepy Sims. My hair is fairly foofy in real life, and even though I have a few pieces by respected creators, I don’t like shiny skintones.

I do use some custom content but its pretty much just hair and the occasional bit of clothing and only from a couple of specific creators that I like (I don’t use. I find myself disliking a lot of the hair in the EA base versions of the game because most of the styles are based on American hairstyles. I honestly have never met anyone that has ever had their hair in 95% of the EA hairstyles and my own hair is very long, so creating sims that in any way resemble myself or people I know is impossible.

That being said, I am very picky about the hair I do use and try to make sure its as natural looking as possible. I don’t use the exchange or sites that are uploaded to by many different creators.
