I was your typical 90’s girl: drooling over boybands, (Backstreet Boys for me!), taking care of my virtual pet, during lessons (even having the teacher take it away!), collecting Beanie Babies, toting Lisa Frank school supplies (mostly cat designs, with the occasional dolphins!), owning several pairs of leggings, and of course…the Spice Girls! I was a fan through it all! From the first time Wannabe played on the radio, when their movie was made, when Geri left the band, when they finally said goodbye as a whole, to their reunion, and greatest hits! Another shocker: No Elton John! Really?! He’s a huge participant, through the royal wedding, greving through Princess Diana’s passing! And he’s a pretty big representative! Some of the bands included on the Olympic Playlist are, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Led Zepplin, The Who, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, and Duran Duran! Sounds great to you guys right? A little unfair to the ones pushing 21, 25, and 30, Danny Boyle! Now, don’t get me wrong, my parents grew up with this music, and with the exposure I got from these bands, even though, I’m into the rap and pop artists of my time, and I have a lot of respect for them, but by the same token, those bands have had pleanty of opportunity, and performances for such events, over the years, and it’s time for some of them to step aside, and make room for the younger generations! Sorry folks, but a Beatles Reunion, isn’t going to work, with half the band deceased!

Sure, the Spice Girls weren’t the Rolling Stones, or the Beatles. But they represented their country much more than any famous person born in the UK! They proudly flaunted around the Union Jack from the Spice Bus in the famous Spice World movie, (that I used to watch EVERYDAY of the week!), to the famous dress Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) wore on stage. Geri invented the phrase “Girl Power” and always spoke her mind. Baby boomers have been watching their favorite artists make a comeback and a reunion too long, time to give us young people a chance!

My favorite Spice Girl, Mel C, (Sporty Spice), a dedicated fan of football (I mean soccer), is very upset about the supposed setlist, and she has every right to be! If you were a proud record selling artist, or successful band that changed the world in some fashion, and all your dedicated fans, ages 18-30, were excited to hear you perform for a huge event representing your country, that would excite you, right? Then it all comes crashing down, when Danny Boyle decides NOT to invite you to perform, because there are more dedicated artists, out there. Well, that doesn’t feel to great does it? Didn’t think so!

I realize I keep mentioning in my disappointment about Baby Boomers. Like I said, this is in no way to offend or upset you at all! I realize these bands and artists you grew up with make you feel young, and proud and stuff, that’s how I feel about the Spice Girls. As I type this, I’m a bit more and more upset, until I hear otherwise, but until then, I will think back to 1998, when I wanted Pepsi, instead of Coke, because of their awesome commercial, begging my mom for quarters at the supermarket just to get Spice Girls lollies and bubblegum at the vending machine, dancing to their music, pretending to be Sporty Spice, while my (brunette) little sister was Baby. My first album ever, Spice World, even giving her the album that same year to my best friend for her birthday! Playing the cassettes in my mom’s car during carpools during brownie girl scout field trips where my mom was a co-leader, and having Spice Girls dolls, notebooks, school supplies, etc. *Sigh* Times like these I wish I could go through the time machine and relive those times, but no time machine yet, for now. Well at least one can dream, right?

Girl Power!

From their first, hopefully not last, reunion.

This is David After Dentist. The poor little guy was sedated after getting stitches for his teeth. I can’t stop laughing.

Then there’s baby Charlie. The little nooboo loves biting his brother’s finger. (Nooboo is Simlish for Baby). Even though I’m a longtime closeted Sims Freak and the Average Jane of a Simmer, I’m a regular poster on a Sims 3 forum where Spoop is the Administrator.

This season might be one of the best seasons this year. I’m glad to see it’s more about talent, and less about popularity. In fall of 2010, Bristol, who I think should have been eliminated in The Situation’s spot (Okay I’m a sucker for the Jersey Shore and I’m from Detroit Suburbs). While I’m very liberal and pro-Obama, I love Bristol as a person, and think she’s very sweet, and a really nice girl, it had nothing to do with why I wanted her off. I don’t agree with her mom’s politics, but that never effected my opinion on Bristol Palin, as a person. That spot rightfully belonged to Brandy!

This season: I am really rooting for Carson Kressley and JR Martinez for the final 3 along with Ricki Lake! Oh man Ricki Lake’s talk show takes me back! I am very happy that Elizabetta got voted off last week though! Her dancing may have been okay, but her attitude was just awful! Maks, where was your brother in Spring of 2010!? He should have had Kate Gosselin for a partner! (Family Oriented people who are mean-spirited do exist!) I hate Kate with a purple passion!

I am very appalled at some of the comments made by JR’s face! Those are survival battle scars on  his face, and to be honest, they never bothered me. JR is an American Hero, a great actor and a great dancer, and for sure deserves my vote for the Mirror Ball Trophy!

I was watching my guilty pleasure Teen Mom this week, and all people have done was complain about…Gary. All because of his weight. I’m a parent myself to an orange Persian Tabby, but he’s one of the best parents out there on the show and one of the FEW Dads of the series to be fully committed to his child since day one. The poor guy has been beaten and badmouthed by the mother of his child Amber. His actions DID seem irresponsible this week, however, I don’t blame him and I understand why he did what he did. That doesn’t make it right, but he’s gone down to his lowest point where he’s depressed and wanted so badly to make it work for his precious daughter Leah. All the awful comments he received on his parenting stems back down to his weight. It’s really sad how a guy has been there for his daughter and loves his daughter more than anything in the whole world gets talked down to because of his weight. Weight has nothing to do with parenting. It’s really sad how many people make fun of him, but were you NOT watching the same show? Did you not see him pay all the bills work and go to school full time? Obviously not. He even said on his Biggest Loser audition about Leah being “the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” What deadbeat says that? Have a heart and give the poor guy a break.

He’s really an amazing guy.

Sims 3 is a very complex game. Nothing is properly meshed and the complexity of Sims 3 makes it unstable as it is. I wonder if those poor things get weird stares and pointed at. When they become children, I feel like they’re a target of bullying.

I actually find Sims that look “realistic” or “human” really really creepy. I am fine with the way EA intended my Sims to look. I only allow myself hair makeup and properly meshed clothes. That’s it. However, I can’t go to the exchange unless the Sim has NO cc on him/her. Thank god the girl dressed doll isn’t around.

I managed to recreate Sims 2 Sims WITHOUT third party junk, thanks to the Store Bought EA hair and the EP items. I’m thinking of recreating the Broke family and the Pleasant family. You can get Brandi Broke’s hair in Generations. Mary Sue Pleasant does resemble Tori Kimura (couldn’t stand either Sim) and Daniel looks a bit like Connor Frio. I’m going to the Swap Shop to try to get Brandi Broke’s pattern. I’m recreating Pleasantview after Don Lothario changed the future very soon. He will be married to Cassandra Goth, Alexander will be a male Jamie Jolina and Bella was never abducted by Aliens.

Sorry Guys, haven’t had a chance to play with 12.4. I ‘ve been going back to Sims 2 just to prevent myself from bashing EA and giving off a huge hate speech full of cusswords and what not. I really miss the way the toddlers ask for things and the children were always getting report cards and they cheer when getting an A+. I still like Sims 3 a lot, and I think it’s a fun game, however, It’s not stable. If Sims 3 lost it’s complexity, I would be more rushed to play the patch. I love Sims 3 and discussing it, I’m just taking a little bit of hiatus (meaning Metro’s challenges. and storytelling stuff), until Pets. I really love Sims 3, however, I miss the simplicity and stability Sims had. I played on the counsle with friends and mostly my cousin and her boyfriend, and my younger twin cousins, and the most I remember is Aliens. I do hope Sims 3 brings back Alien Abduction, because unrealistic colored skin isn’t the same.
